Eagle Rock Brewery Grand Opening Tonight!

We love beer (that's one of the reasons we put it in our all-beef chili)! So, we're super excited about being at the grand opening of the Eagle Rock Brewery tonight.

It's been a while in the making, but the brewery is now open to the public and will have four of their beers on tap along with four others for your tasting pleasure. We'll also be parked outside because the best thing to drink alongside our fries is a cool brew.

The grand opening will start at 6p and end at 10p. Address:
3056 Roswell Street
Los Angeles, Ca 90065

Hope to see you there!

The Frysmith Dogwich

There's a new special this week, and it's got an at least kinda catchy name: The Frysmith Dogwich. A sesame-seeded French roll is topped with a split, grilled all-beef 1/4 lb. hot dog. That's topped with our chili and cheddar cheese. Then that's topped with fries and a mustard slaw. It's big and hard to eat, but I saw at least one guy finish one without a fork at lunch today. Oh, and the picture's out of focus, which, as far as I know, won't affect the taste of your next Frysmith Dogwich.

Captain Eli's

We've got a new soda on board. Captain Eli's Orange Pop is flavored with cane sugar, orange and tangerine. It's got some stuff floating in it, which is usually a seal of goodness in a natural soda (as opposed to, say, tap water). Try the Orange Pop with some SweetPo!

The Last Hurrah

We're headed back to the Downtown Independent Theater on Sunday night (9-10:30) to feed folks after the premiere of "The Last Hurrah." It's a comedy filmed in one shot. Now there's a concept that takes guts. I can just see someone noticing that they forgot to press record 45 minutes into the take. Anyway, stop by downtown for a late meal or grab fries after you watch "The Rules of the Game" of 21st century comedy!

Canceled: All-You-Can-Eat Frysmith at the Alameda Truck Lot!

We were just informed that they're closing the Alameda Truck Lot tonight, so we're going to have to postpone AYCE night. We'll bring it back bigger and better at a location that actually has tables!! Stay tuned and sorry to all the folks who wanted to come out.

We're making our first trip out to the Alameda Truck Lot this Thursday! The new destination for food trucks is located on Alameda near 2nd and Traction, right on the boundary of Little Tokyo and the Arts District.

To celebrate, we're going to do our very first All-You-Can-Eat night. For $10.50, eat all the fries you can in a one-hour period. If you want to sample everything on our menu but doubt your ability to scarf down 6 full orders of fries, don't worry! For the all-you-can-eaters we'll have 1/2 size boats available, so you can enjoy a full smorgasbord of fries and try as many as you want.

There are rules, of course. The all-you-can-eat special is limited to a one-hour serving window, you can't bring your food off the lot and no sharing with non-all-you-can-eaters!

For those with less impressive appetites, we'll also have our regular menu available! Check us out at the Alameda lot from 5p-9p Thursday and bring a folding chair!

Auction at Stinkers!

We were planning a future visit to Stinkers, a truck-stop (and skunk) themed bar in Silverlake, when my favorite doorman at the Bigfoot Lodge told me there going to class the place up. My immediate concern: What will happen to all those cute skunk butts?!

Stinkers, one would assume, gets its name from the stuffed skunks on display everywhere. The mounted skunk rear ends above the bar emit a cloud of steam at the press of a button. It's not everyone's brand of humor, which might play a part in why the bar is going to transform.

The manager informs me that they're going to auction off the decor, skunk butts included, this Tuesday. The preview starts at 8p and the auction, at 9. We'll be at a private gig, so we can't make it, but if you want some low-brow decor, head to Stinkers at 2939 W Sunset Blvd.

The New Special

Those strange globular things are poached pears, which we're serving with pork belly, mustard and cheddar as our special this week. On fries, of course.

Quickie update: We ran out of the special Friday night. Didn't realize we'd move that many in the rain. We'll get a new one going next week!
