Serial Killers at Sacred Fools

We've been delighted to do midnight runs to the Sacred Fools theater over the past few months. Saturday night, the current cycle of Serial Killers comes to a close and we'll be there slinging fries for actors, theater lovers and fry munchers, alike.

If you haven't caught Serial Killers before, here's how it works:
Five plays enter... three plays leave! Each week, Serial Killers presents five stories each ending on a cliffhanger - and the audience votes on which three stories will continue the following week! Definitely come by early to catch the show and if this Saturday's a no-go, check out other shows at this dynamic theater company.

A Promise for the Planet

Thursday marks the 40th anniversary of Earth Day, and we're going to be celebrating it with Sustainable Silver Lake at Spaceland. It is mildly amusing to have an Earth Day event at a place called Spaceland, but I digress.
A Promise for the Planet is going to be a fun event with a message. All kinds of folk will be making pledges to adopt at least one more Earth-friendly practice in their lives. Visitors can also talk to experts about sustainable living. DubLAB will DJ, KCRW's Anthea Raymond will MC and photographer Douglas Hill will record the event.
The event goes from 12-5 pm at Spaceland, 1717 Silverlake Blvd. We'll arrive in our truck powered by good old recycled veggie oil!

Good Day LA

We had a segment on Good Day LA yesterday with CitySearch senior editor Mar Yvette. It was a fun time, and our food (and the other trucks') looks great.
On the down side, our friendly cook Zach does tell me that "TV definitely adds volume to hair" and has started calling me "Korean Kramer."

Stop by between 6 and 9 at 8601 Sunset Blvd. to meet the artist and the designer and pick up some fries for dinner while you're at it!

Vendy Votes

Howdy, y'all. This is the new "shameless plug" section of our blog!
The Vendy Awards are coming to LA for the first time! They're doing a fundraiser and cook-off all the way on May 15th where they'll give awards for LA's best street food vendors. It's huge in NY, and Brook used their recommendations for the food truck outings she did when she was there last year. They've started taking nominations of trucks to attend, so can you fry fans out there nominate us, pretty please? You get entered to win free tickets to the event, which sounds like it's gonna be pretty sweet. Thanks, everyone!

Thinkspace New Location and Show

This Friday we're excited to be at the inaugural exhibition at Thinkspace's new gallery space! They've moved out of Silverlake and into a more upscale venue at 6009 Washington Blvd.

The main gallery features Anthony Pontius. Here's a blurb about his work:

“Gorgeously apocalyptic and subtly infused with a dark whimsy, Anthony Pontius uses a variety of media (mostly oils and pencil on wood panel) to create his haunted and stark landscapes that have a strange resonance to the unearthly works of Bosch, inhabited by strange creatures and degraded machinery. With narratives looking like the end of a bleak fairy tale that did NOT end happily ever after, the canvas is then splashed with streaks and blotches, and re-worked with pencil creating intricate scarred vignettes of ghostly words and images. Each painting is suffused with a smoggy, smothered glow that creates an evocative and enigmatic aura.” (Kirsten Anderson / Roq La Rue Gallery)

The Project Room will have the group show "Hunt & Gather" featuring 12"x12" works from: Aaron Kraten, Andy Council, Deseo One, Carrie Ann Baade, Charles Wish, Chelsea Lewyta, Dave Pressler, Diva, Elizabeth Mcgrath, El Gato Chimney, Emilio Subira, Jshea9, Plastic God, Scott Belcastro, Scott Campbell, Scott Radke, Tanner Goldbeck, Tessar Lo, Tiffany Liu, Timothy Lee, and Victor Castillo. And in the office, the group show "Vision" features works from: Adam Caldwell, Craig ‘Skibs’ Barker, David MacDowell, Derek Gores, Jacub Gagnon, Jennifer Nehrbass, Jeff Ramirez, Josie Morway, Linnea Strid, Liz Brizzi, Pakayla Rae Biehn, and Stella Im Hultberg.

Come check out the new gallery and get some fries!

Mobile Mash Up Last Weekend

This past Saturday, we joined Mandoline Grill, Grill Em All and Lomo Arigato at the Verdugo Bar in Glassell Park. There was music, a photo booth, tons of great beers on tap (I had a couple, so I know) and a mobile mash-up.
The mash-up concept was serious fun, and we're hoping to do it again soon. We got to put some flavorful vegan curry from Mandoline Grill on our fries with cilantro, lemon and cheese. Grill Em All hit us with creamy fennel and sausage gravy that we topped with cheddar and green onions. They handed us gravy and we gave 'em chili, so no one got shorted on calories there. Lomo Arigato supplied their top-notch green sauce, which covered fries with steak and cheese. These trucks all make really good food!
