Renegade Craft Fair

We're spending the weekend at the Renegade Craft Fair. Looks like quite the event with a ton of interesting handmade stuff. And you'll also be able to get handmade fries with stuff on top.

Make that oil last!

Tomorrow's the last night of Hanukkah, folks, and we're making latkes! That's right, latkes. Recently, I learned that one of the reasons latkes are an important tradition for Hanukkah is the Miracle of the Oil, in which a day's worth of oil lasted eight in the menorah after the Maccabees took back Judea from the Greco-Syrians (and for the record, I have nothing against Greco-Syrians).
Tomorrow night we'll be at Bodega Wine Bar in Santa Monica, serving latkes with applesauce, sour cream and a couple of newfangled sides to boot. And they'll definitely be fried.
